2015 Scott Spark 950 or 2015 Cannondale Rush 1 or 2

I'm in the market for a decent full suspension. I'm a shorty - 1,61m and will do mostly long distance endurance such as Trans Baviaans and some off road rides. Looked at a number of bikes - you can get good prices on 2015 models and it comes down to the 2015 Scott Spark 950 with good components, the Cannondale Rush 1 with decent components or the Cannondale 2 Rush with Shimano Deore/SLX Shadow. The Scott is in a price range between the 2 Cannondales - i.e. R26 000.

Any suggestions please!

Can't really comment on the Spark, but have some experience with the Rush.

The Rush has a very plush and active suspension design, so keep that in mind when considering the riding you do. It's also not a particularly light bike, but the weight is manageable.

My biggest gripes with both bikes is the lack of thru-axles at the rear. A thru-axles stiffens up the rear and is very noticeable when riding hard. If you're not a hard rider and don't ride a lot of techy terrain, it might not be an issue for you.

Spec wise, they're quite similar.

Go ride both and choose which one suits your pocket and preferences.

Yeah must admit the back end can be a bit wishy-washy when descending on full suspension setting and a thru-axle would def help stiffen it up.

OP, if you've got your heart set on the bikes mentioned and bothered by the lack of thru-axle at the rear of the bikes, you can consider something like this: http://www.dtswiss.com/Components/RWS/RWS-Thru-bolt

It's DT Swiss' RWS "Thru-Bolt" system, where you basically run a 9/100mm thru-axle on an open drop-out, as opposed to the usual QR. You will however have to buy the RWS thru-axle and compatible DT Swiss hub and have your rear wheel rebuilt, so it won't be a cheap exercise.

Keep in mind that it's still not as stiff as a proper 12mm thru-axle, but is stiffer than the QR that are currently on those bikes.

Hmmm might actually consider this or just upgrade, maybe the Scott Spark 900 RC truly a thing of beauty!
