borntoride Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Event Name: Trans Elands 2 Day Stage RaceWhen: 23 October 2015 - 24 October 2015Where: Patensie, Gamtoos Valley, Eastern CapeCategory: MTBTRANS ELANDS 2 DAY STAGE RACE:The Trans Elands 2 Day Stage Race starts and finishes at the historic Ripple Hill Hotel in Patensie in the Gamtoos Valley on both days of the race.Participants have the choice of either doing the Trans Elands 2 Day Stage Race LITE or alternatively, the EXTREME CHALLENGE.The 2 Day LITE is geared towards the weekend warrior and fun rider and riders will do approximately 60 – 70 km’s per day with about 600m of climbing per day. The LITE routes wind through the Gamtoos Valley Citrus farms and are non technical, very scenic and beautiful.The 2 Day EXTREME CHALLENGE is geared towards your Epic and Trans type riders. The race is divided into two very different days of riding.DAY 1:The route starts in Patensie and is approximately 115 km’s, following sections of the Trans Baviaans and Trans Elands routes with about 1400 meters of climbing. This route will favour big blade riders with big “engines”. Day 1 ends in Patensie.DAY 2:The route starts in Patensie routing over the Winterberg Mountains, through the Cape Pine forests, climbing from sea level up to 780m above sea level, before descending into the Elands River Valley at the Sand River Dam. It then winds through the Elands River Valley for about 30km before climbing back up over the Winterberg Mountains and finally descending back down into the Gamtoos Valley and finishing at the Ripple Hill Hotel in Patensie. This stage is approximately 135 km with 3500 meters of climbing. “Mountain goat heaven”.ENTRY FEES:2 DAY LITE: R 850.00 per person. Teams of 2 riders and solo entries permitted.Race Categories include: Solo (male & female), Teams, Mixed Teams and Ladies Teams.2 DAY EXTREME CHALLENGE: R 1150.00 per person. Teams of 2 riders & solo males.Race Categories include: Solo male, Solo females (unfortunately not a prize money category) Teams, Mixed Teams and Ladies Teams.PRIZE MONEY: Prize money will be offered in the above categories in the EXTREME CHALLENGE only.Trans Elands race T-shirts and medals for all participants.Accommodation and meals not included.
