Good afternoon guys and girls,

I have done some scratching on line but not been able to find any specific details on this, what I would like to find out is I have a set of Stan's wheels with Stan's 3.30 hubs I need to change the rear hub bearings, I am technically inclined but feel like these wheels are so soft I may break them while I am doing this job.

I have already taken the rear wheel out the frame, and was able to remove the cassette I now need to remove the shaft and bearings can anyone assist me with what to do next as I do not want to break anything

OR

do I just take these wheels in and have the bearings replaced at a bike mechanic

Thank you I have actually found that manual since I posted this morning and also found this very informative and easy to follow video

Will go try it in a little while will come back screeming in a little when it doesnt work

Okay so was able to replace the bearings in the hub with great ease and looked further into the free hub and noticed I need specialized tools to do this job, so today I pass the Rietvlei cycle park and ask them to assist or sell me the tools why not do this myself if I can.

Will revert on what I do to resolve this

Ah. I thought you would have had the cassette off already.

A chain whip and cassette tool are pretty useful things to have in your toolbox if you're planning on doing your own maintenance, and they're not that pricey. Otherwise it's off to the bike shop.

No the cassette is still there I know once the cassette is off then there is a circlip from watching that video.

I have been riding bike for years and have never owned anything more than road side tools (compact sets) I have intentions on buying a few tools for myself now anyway so will go visit The Hub at rietvlei later and see what I can get from them

okay bought a park tool's chain whip and cassette tool, also got a pump and tubeless repair kit, and this is why I dont like walking into those shops I tend to spend too much.

got back to the office got the cassette off in a few minutes got the bearings out and...... wait the ones I bought are the wrong size go back to the stans manuals check myself again and confirm the manual says stans 3.30 hub gets 2x 6802 and the free hub gets 2x 6902 so why have I just removed 3x 6802's from the free hub.

struggle for like an hour on line checking exploded views etc... go check the free hub again and notice on the side it says XD compatible, back to google (love this place) do some more research and find out the XD drivers do not take the 2x 6902 like the standard drivers but do take 3x 6802 so I have to swing past the local bearing shop again and swop these that I have bought for the correct ones.

but the purchase of the 2 tools and the bearings (from a bearing supplier) has come to the exact same amount as allowing the shop to do the whole job for me. Excluding my man hour off course and now I have the tools and the know how for future.
