JHB to Clarens - Road

Has anyone ridden a road route to Clarens in the last year, 2 or 3?

 

Or has anyone here have some tips about the best route to take (with a road bike)?

 

Or has anyone driven most of this route before and would like to give some good input?

After doing a 200km on Sunday (without much training or 'work up to it') I think my riding partner and I are ready to go 'bigger'...hahaha - I would like to do this in one go. (Plan on having a back-up car for safety.)

Have ridden from Reitz to Clarens (via Bethlehem and Fouriesburg for the mountains :-))

 

Last time was in 2014. I'll PM you that Strava file.

Road conditions were good, back then.

 

From Jhb, its probably:

Jhb to Sasolburg via Klipriver, Meyerton, 3 rivers, Sasolburg)

Then onto Heilbron, Reitz, Bethlehem, Clarens

One of my colleagues has mentioned multiple rides to Clarens.

Not sure when he last did it, but I can ask him when I am back in the office next week.
