At the sharp end of the field, Clint Hendricks (RoadCover) crossed the finish line of the 39th Cape Town Cycle Tour at around 10 minutes to nine, a long time before a big chunk of the 35 000 riders in the world's largest individually timed cycle race even started.

Was a good ride. For some reason the whole build up and the expo felt so much more commercialised and less about the rider.

From the lottery only entry to the compulsory and badly designed medical questionnaire through to the 'odd' / very officiaous expo and the endless spam SMS' (the one at 4:20am on Sunday was a beauty of timing) I felt I was a commodity to be sold to rather than a rider like it's been for the last 5 I've done. I wouldn't mind if what I was being sold was interesting for me!

To be honest I felt like I was a option to be sold in a data sheet to various interested parties while the experience for the event wasn't upped at all. Thankfully the crowd, the riders and the day were exceptional.
