ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Come and join us for a great day of off-road fun. Now in its fourth year, the popular PPA ‘Tread Lightly’ Women’s MTB has grown to our biggest all-female off-road event. For novices, the event offers a friendly, non-technical introduction to off-road cycling, while the more experienced cyclist will get a good workout on the long route.

35 km: The long route is aimed at fit, fairly experienced cyclists and includes some technical climbs and fast downhills. Be ready for a long uphill slog within the first 12 km. This is NOT a route for a novice or unfit cyclist. No u/12’s, sorry.

15 km: The medium route is aimed at fit novice riders. It cuts out the steepest climbs of the 35 route but still shares the first major climb with the long route. u/12’s can enter this route if accompanied at all times by Mom. All men will pay R220 to take part in this distance; men must dress up and be prepared to assist all ladies on the route.

5 km: The short route is fairly flat and mainly meanders around the lower part of the farm. It is aimed specifically at novice riders and does not include any single track. Men are allowed to enter the 5 km if they are accompanied at all times by a child u/12 who will ride with Dad to make sure he is okay. All men will pay R80 to ride in this distance; men must dress up and be prepared to assist all ladies on the route.

NOTES

Pre-entries only, closing on Monday 6 May at 16h00 or when 800 entries have been received. At the finish, several food stalls will be offering tasty treats while wine tasting will be available. Men will be allowed to take part in the 15 km event.

Remember to keep an eye on our website for route changes and skills clinics building up to the event.

Remember to collect your PPA MTB bike board from the PPA Office prior to the event, or allow extra time to do so at the event. No helmet, no ride. No transponder, no time. PPA members will start in the seeded batches ahead of non-members.
