As a matter pure interest (I am not a sufferer) does exercise lower BP. I ask because after a hard ride my BP definitely drops for a good few hours, so I was wondering if regular exercise helps high BP

Hi everyone,

I struggled with hypertension with similar values as the OP. Here's what I've found:

The main issue was probably too much water, with too little mineral intake. They keep saying, "stay hydrated" but too much will raise blood pressure and even swell the brain according to some sources. One has to do the urine colour test and keep it yellowish, never or hardly ever clear. Overtraining syndrome can also raise blood pressure and cause variable heart rate at rest, and in turn panic attacks. Persistent overtraining can increase bad cholesterol and finally cause a heart attack. Overtraining is measured according to total stress loaded on the body = daily life stress + exercise load.

Natural blood pressure reducing herbs:

Hawthorn (good for the heart and the whole circulatory system)

Hibiscus sinensis/sabdariffa flower tea (if you have water saturation issues like me)

Although the above mentioned herbs helped for me, just cutting fluid intake works well and now I get slightly dizzy often when rising because of lower blood pressure. One has to test gradually how little water is needed during a ride, but always take enough water along. I mistakenly cut down on salt in the hope to lower blood pressure, but that just probably worsened the over hydration issue by washing sodium out of the system and henceforth increased bp.

Signs of overtraining, which in turn can cause hbp:

Insomnia

Sudden bursts of eleviated heart rate during a rest period, even days after a ride.

Unexplained skin rashes.

Loss of appetite.

Loss of excitement.

According to my internet research, the activity that not only yields the lowest bp amongst its athletes, but also has the lowest hbp tolerance amongst them: gymnastics. So, literally hanging around in the playgrounds helps! Stretching exercises also helped for me.

I hope someone finds this study useful, but take it with a grain of salt, as not everyone will have high blood pressure because they are over hydrated. I noted that someone else got high blood pressure because of insufficient hydration. Also, in my case, too much salt was not an issue but rather a deficiency thereof together with too much water.

Amazing how much organic apple cider vinegar can treat! I'm using it (diluted) at the moment to treat a pterygium in the one eye and results look good at this stage. The eye looks almost as white as the other one and is less wind sensitive.
