How do you use your training watch

I've been using my Polar RCX5 for a few years now but mainly for cycling. Recently i have started swimming and running was was wondering how do you guys use your watch when doing multi-sports?

For example when you finish a run, do you stop it and start again for a cycle immediately afterwards, or do you just let it run continuous? Or maybe the LAP function?

Curious to know how others use theirs.

thnx

Depends.... If I'm doing a BRICK session ie one continuous session with multiple activities, I use triathlon/multisport mode. Thus, there is a "transition" period logged for the time I spend changing from swimwear to cycle kit.  If the two activities are some time apart (eg morning and evening session) I log it as two separate sessions

What Craai said. If I want a 'total multi time' I leave the watch running and just switch disciplines. This is realistic when participating in events because the race clock doesn't stop when you stop. I have a Garmin 310XT.
