  1. It may well be.. The bigger question for me is did anyone else read this in the deep voice of a narrator?
  2. I think you're right homie 😁 I stopped counting at 40. Nice hoodie. If it's any consolation, the kit that I got at that same Sani2C doesn't fit anymore either. But I hold onto it in hope πŸ˜…
  3. I never subscribed, so no yoga DVD πŸ™‚. My cleanup did however uncover a 2008 Sani2C and a 2005 Sabie Experience DVD. I'm going to hang onto those and see if I can still watch them. I featured in one of them, so it'll be interesting to see young me riding down Nic's pass ☺️ Nice to know that Marianne Vos is still a legend (I'm out of touch)
  4. Hi all, Happy Monday. Thanks for enquiries, I'm surprised by the interest. The magazines have found a home πŸ™‚
  5. I'm reviving this old thread for the same reason, although I see the OP didn't get much of a response. I have a stack of old magazines if anyone wants them. Bicycling, ride and tread dated 2005-2013. If nobody is interested then they'll go out with the recycling on Thursday. If you are interested, please drop me a DM
  6. Horse legs... who would've thought? It works well for breastfeeding moms too πŸ˜„
  7. On the subject of people getting knocked down, I'm surprised to see that there has been no mention anywhere on the Hub of Andreas Probst. Sadly his knock down was fatal. The video is upsetting, so be warned if you do a google search. Not to detract from little girls getting shoved into the mud or anything. Oh, for what it's worth, I'm South African.
  8. I'm resurrecting this VERY old thread to find out what you all do with your old (but still usable) cycling shoes. I have a pair of MTB shoes which are still in decent enough condition to be used by someone, but not decent enough to sell. I'm reluctant to just toss them if someone can use them. Are there any development clubs in Joburg where one can hand down old shoes and kit?
  9. Very sad to see this news. Like most of the 'old' hub crowd I lost touch with Thug, only occasionally bumping into him along the spruit over the years. Such a gentleman. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP Thuggie
  10. I stand to be corrected, but I seem to recall @NotSoBigBen having a broken button on his Garmin and he 3D printed one to replace it.. worked a charm if I remember correctly?
  11. I'm not suggesting this as a means of self defense, but just to share a small anecdote. A couple of years ago I was riding alone and out of the blue this guy comes running out of the bushes of an open veld, straight towards me with a big stick in hand, shouting and hitting the stick on the ground. I got a big fright expecting to be attacked. In the moment and without much thought, I pulled out my Sahmurai bar end and was going to stab him with it. When he reached me he suddenly stopped and walked back into the veld muttering something to himself. I realised a couple of things at that point: 1 - the oke was mentally ill 2 - a Sahmurai tubeless repair kit can potentially be used as more than a tubeless repair kit
  12. Wow, I'm astounded by how badly that road has deteriorated. Back in the day I used to ride it almost every weekend. Frequently alone. I haven't been up there in a good few years now. Probably since my mom passed in 2014. Things changed and my family have since moved from the farm where some older hubbers may remember meeting up to go on Breedts Nek group rides. Bittersweet memories watching @nathrix's video. Thanks for sharing
  13. I agree with this sentiment, there's something special about switching lights off in the middle of nowhere and seeing more stars in the sky than anyone from Joburg will ever see. The dead quiet is cathartic. Having said that, it could be a nice change to see Bergplaas in daylight and probably terrifying seeing the big dipper πŸ™ƒ
  14. I'm so sorry to hear about Rubes. I've wondered from time to time how the other 'adoptees' are getting along. Scar boy is doing well. He is older and going grey now and gets tired quickly when walking or playing, but he's still a big puppy at heart and the most loved and spoilt mutt on the planet. He'll be 7 in December.
  15. There's something about the texture of the Fry's products that I just can't stomach no matter how many other ingredients I add, so I've just stopped buying meat 'replacements/substitutes'. For me personally, they're expensive and unnecessary.. but maybe that's just me
  16. Maybe once word gets out, the knowledge that there are eyes and ears in the park might serve as some kind of deterrent? One can only hope. Sadly, I agree with your sentiments, so for me I just stay away for now. And to think that 5 years ago I would happily and comfortably ride through Delta Park alone on a regular basis. What a pathetic state our country is in.
  17. Yep, I haven't been here for a while, other than to buy and sell stuff I thought the Delta Park article was worth a share though.
  18. https://northcliffmelvilletimes.co.za/339709/lookouts-and-cameras-to-fight-crime-in-delta-park/ Maybe this initiative will help
  19. Not that I'm part of this challenge anymore, but I just read an email to the same effect now. I'm sure you clever lot will figure something out for 2021 though..
