Spinning bike crank play

I've got a Ralleigh spinning bike. Fairly descent, nothing fancy...gets me from hero to moertoe fairly quick so im happy with it.

I bought it second hand used it a couple of times with some Sufferfest videos, what I started seeing was that it looks like theres a bit of play on the crank. Not very much noticeable when you put some tension on the flywheel but as soon as you take all tension off its a blerrie irritation. Feels like the crank arms just slightly moves forwards and backwards before it starts moving the flywheel....again, very little play, but enough...and thats too much for me.

Can someone tell me please if its a bearing or something? Can I take it to my local bike mech to check it out? Yes its a Ralleigh...but its all I got.

Ek dank u.

Sounds like the chain is not tensioned properly. You should be able to adjust the flywheel on something that resembles horisontal drop outs... (At least its like that one the ones I've worked on, don't really know the Raleigh bikes)

Yip, not side to side, forward and backwards. I already got the wrench involved there and both of us agree the crank bolts are tight.

Works like a charm thanks so much Pulse. Weird sounding "rub" noise coming from somewhere but I'll just turn up the tunes to take care of that.

Thanks again.

Pleasure!

Rub noise... Perhaps the flywheel is slightly skew and rubs against the resistance/brake pads, or somewhere against the covers over the drivetrain

Theres 2 bolts in front that you have to tension evenly. Its shown on the video. One feels very loose where the other one feels a bit tighter. You think its a good idea to take them out and retention them from scratch. Its not a biggie. It does sound more like chain/chaincover ... When i peddle faster the creak goes away. Sounds almost like when you put a lot of small pebbles in a can then roll the can, if you know what i mean.
