Don't think those cheap and nasty plastic bottles are good for us...I prefer those Camelbak water bottles - the expensive ones - which seem to be less prone to mold etc, or am i wrong?

Cut one open and have a look one day. I have clear plastic bottles and black mold grows almost every week if any moisture is left after washing and sterilizing .

I tried a trick I saw on the telly watching Le Tour.

Threw my bottle on the pavement after a sip and then spent the next hour and a half riding about with my outstretched hand at a very spectator I saw.

Nearly died of thirst!

With you on this, regarding the Camelbak bottles. I dismantle those fancy tops and clean them every few weeks..........in Milton, as mentioned by others.

Mostly wrong - but it is your money....

Tossing them in the dishwasher works for me - if they melt they were rubbish anyway.... :)
