Hartebeespoort road ride

Hi all.

 

New to the forum. Did the 95km road route from fourways to the dam wall and back today on my MTB

 

Not sure if anyone on this forum has done the R511 route to Hartes but really enjoyed it.

 

One narrow section with not much verge approaching brooderstroom and the pelindaba road is also narrow but other than that and awesome ride.

 

Took it slow and stopped for brunch at the windmill restaurant so ended up a 6 hour ride

I did a similar route last week...

Centurion - Lanseria - Broederstroom - around the Dam - Harties - Pta North - Centurion

 

Nice route, must just take care in the narrow sections

How do you stay in the seat that long? I will need a fire extinguisher after that amount of time in the sadle.

Ummmmm found my bike very comfortable but the climb up To broederstroom on the way back.... had to stop for a fire extinguishing rest half way up. Other than that was ok.

I've gone from Midrand to Broederstroom via the R511 before which was quite a nice ride.

Which way did you go round the dam? I imagine coming from the cable car side must be hectic traffic.

Traffic at Saartjies neck isn't too bad, and at least there is a shoulder. Loads of traffic at the dam wall/tunnel; but I just went to the front of the line, and gunned it through to where the road is nice and broad again
