Many of you know me as the guy who helps design the hectic enduro stuff at Hakahana. Yes, that's true but there is a complete other face of Hakahana Trails which not many riders have seen.

For the 12 hour we have designed a 5km route for any level MTBer combining some old rarely used trails around the Hakahana trailhead perimater, added some of the existing green route and built more custom trail - linking bits together. We have also smoothed out a flowing green trail which runs parallel to the enduro descent to eliminate the hectic drops and jumps. The fast, experienced XC or trail riders will be able to race down the fun black or red sections while the rest will happily flow down the green descent.

Some photos from work done so far.

Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th will be a full practice weekend where you can scope the course and see what it's all about. A few of us will be available to show you around the route.

Just remember entries close at midnight on the 12th.

Sounds interesting. Need to try get a team together

Great stuff. Hope to see you there. We are busy organising a party of note. Looks like the live band will be there all day.

I'm working on the map at the moment and will post it a little later. Why don't you join on the weekend and I'll show you around some of the new flowing singletrack we've built...

Hi there Robodog

This looks like a lot of fun. What skill level do riders need to have to ride this course? I am interested, but my wife is not very skilled. It looks like a great event for family (depending on the required level of riding skills).

Thanks

Hi there

I've tried to make the route accessible for all skill levels. Hakahana is notorious as being a dream trail centre for technically skilled riders. That is true!

BUT the route for the 12 hour is completely different. It uses trails around the Hakahana Stables which are mostly overgrown because no one rides them. That is what the p[hots above show. Wherever there is anything slightly technical, I've built a n easy line around.

All I can suggest is that you join us this weekend for a test ride of the route before making your mind up whether you're going to enter.
