Bubbles_25 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Hi Hubbers A buddy of mine is looking to get a cheapish road bike for him to ride CTCT. Got an option of a Merida Road 880. No idea of how old it is. It has an aluminium frame and Shimano Sora Rear Derailleur. Ballpark price is in the region of R 3k. Does anyone have any thoughts on this machine bearing in mind its probably only going to be ridden a couple of times a year, possibly only once. I know this is a super vague query, but any thoughts would be appreciated.
Eugene Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 That bike is, I would guess a 2003 or 2004 model. They were originally specced with Shimano 2200 parts (now known as Claris). I would guess that this is non standard if it has Sora parts. Nonetheless, Merida make some quality stuff. If it's a good condition, R2500 woul be a fair price
