Bonus Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I've been following the story of the True Grit Bike Park over the past few weeks. The place was almost entirely destroyed by fire recently. This appeared on FB this morning . . . . Important News: Some very unfortunate and sad news. As we opened up for the first time over the past weekend since the devastating fires at the beginning of this month, our first customers since the fires, who came all the way from Cape Town to support the Bike Park, were robbed of their bicycles and cellphones while riding on the Blue Route. Due to the fence lines being burnt down during the fire, these criminals have easier access to the farms and targeted our customers. Fortunately nobody was injured in the process. Vetus Schola was notified immediately and were on the scene within minutes of the incident and managed to spot the criminals, but sadly the criminals managed to get away after a chase down by Vetus Schola. Since then we have been hard at work with local Neighborhood Watch, Vetus Schola, Farm Security and SAPS to improve the security in and around Sir Lowry's Pass as this is not the first incident. We are meeting up with the local Sir Lowry's Pass Village Leaders to discuss a better way forward as crime effects us all and we all need to stand together and not let these criminals win. This puts added pressure on True Grit which is already going through a challenging process of rebuilding.
