Can I use Motorex FETT 176 GP to grease SR Epicon spring?

Hi there,

I have started servicing my Epicon fork and I am at the point to order all the stuff I need like fork oil (5wt, 10wt, 15wt) and some 75w/80w gearoil for the air chamber. I also want to add some grease to the online shop cart. I have read I shouldn't use petroleum of lithium based grease. So I was thinking about calcium based grease. I want to use it for the parts below after thorough cleaning:

Negative spring:

Air piston:

Question: Can I use the following grease?

Motorex FETT 176 GP

Thanks for all the replies!

You should be using something like SRAM butter / Slick Honey / Slickoleum. They're all the same thing, just in a different package.

If you're using gear oil on top of the piston, just pre-lubricate the piston seal with that and you'll be good. Just pop the topcap off every now and then to make sure the oil isn't migrating through the air seal, although that looks like a U-cup seal so you should be fine.

Thanks! I was already looking into Motorex Bike Grease 2000 instead of the one above. Because I prefer to order all lubricants I need at once at one webshop. I have read good reviews and it is synthetic and calcium based. Isn't that also the case with SlickHoney?

Yes, but slickoleum is much thinner and has a far lower melting point. The base is only one of a range of factors to consider with grease.

Slickoleum is also sold as Slick Honey and SRAM butter, so you should be able to pick some up from a decent LBS.
