David Marshall Posted May 13, 2017 Share Hubs need to have flanges strong enough not to distort under spoke tension, an axle that is straight and holds the (preferably cartridge) bearings in the correct place and the freehub must be easily cleaned and serviced. Most hubs above the real entry level available fit the bill. I have built a few sets onto ECC hubs and have not had any complaints. In my opinion they are good value for money.
