Merida big nine 500, 900 or xt edition

Hi guys 

 

Can anyone please give me some advice. I am looking at buying a second hand hard tail and at the moment struggling to decide between Merida big nine 500, 900 and xt edition.

Are you just starting out, or have you been doing some MTB riding already?

if so:

What terrain do you mainly ride and how many kilometers per week?

Do you have an existing MTB?

What is your estimated budget?

Whats your budget? Those 3 will all vary in price. Get the best one you can afford. I have an XT edition and got no issues.

Big Nine 500

Basic "entry level" type of bike with Rock Shox front fork.

Mix of Deore and SLX groupset.

Wheels are normally tubeless converted already, or another wheelset already on the bike...ask the seller. 

 

Big Nine XT (I have one and LOVE it - 2016 model with the new M8000 XT 11-speed groupset - early 2016 and pre-2016 still have the older XT 10-speed groupset, but nothing wrong with the 10-speed groupset, was just changed to M8000 sometime during 2016).

Rock Shox 30Gold front fork with Remote Lock

As mentioned it has the M8000 XT 11-speed groupset, only the brakes are Shimano M506.

Even the wheel HUBS I have are XT.

Wheels are normally tubeless converted already, or another wheelset already on the bike...ask the seller. 

 

Big Nine 900 - have not done much investigation and have not seen a lot of them to be honest, but this bike (year dependent) has a LITE ALO frame (lighter than the 500 and 900 mentioned above)

It has a FOX front fork and a FULL XT Groupset (even the brakes set is XT).

That is what I can see (according to the website)
