Putting new rims onto used Giant hubs

I have a pair of little used Giant SX-C2 wheels with 19mm rims. I want to have Rapide 25mm rims built onto the Giant hubs instead(cannot afford new wheels). Before I do this, is there any history of these hubs failing? No point in building a set of wheels if the (rear) hub is going to have a short life.

Can my 2.1 tyres seat properly onto a 25mm rim?

I would check what bearings your hubs have.  I think your front is sealed bearing while the rear may have two sealed bearings on the axle or is cup and cone. The freehub may be the non serviceable type.  If the rear is cup and cone and/or the freehub non serviceable I would not rebuild it.  The chances are that you will need new spokes with the Rapide rim as well as the labour cost so you would be about square if you sell the wheels to buy hubs and go for a new build.

If it's the Giant Tracker hub, don't waste your money.

If it's the DT straight pull hub, go mad.
