I love the Hub......

Imagine my surprise on my Cradle ride this morning at coming across an oke pedalling away with Thule panniers on his MTB. A quick chat revealed he was the OP out testing his panniers! Small world.....

Small world indeed! Thanks for the chat and lekker ride Bob!

Hi Bob and all Hubbers.

I hit the ground running and started work on 07/01/19 again only to realize on the 21st that I did not let anybody know that I kept the rubber down and had a safe trip!

I would certainly recommend a trip like this to anyone that can do a century ride off road.

The railway dirt road is quite rideable and the Thule panier bags held up. They were sliding a bit on the mounting rails but with the straps provided and some adjustment they were fine. You just have to adjust your riding style somewhat due to the geometry and weight of the bags and constantly look for the best line to avoid the corrugation and you are good to go.

The scenery on the West coast was quite something and I thing the train driver(s) does have something to smile about every day! Hospitality and food was also exceptional and it is almost like everyone that learns what you are up to tries to go the extra mile for you.

Road safety was all good especially due to the lower traffic on the dirt road. Even the West coast R27 was fine as long as you stayed in the shoulder all cars and trucks gave you a wide berth.

Weather conditions was fine except for the wind that blew from the north on the 1st 2 days which is not the predominant wind!

If I get another chance I would do it again in a heart beat!
