Hi guys, another doff question but I entered the 55km Tour Durban event and saw that there is an MTB part. I only have a regular bike for this. One that only has a fixed front and back fork. Will this be okay? Or do I have to get a special bike? I did the 35km Amashova on this and it was awesome.

Are you wanting to do the MTB event or is there a part of the road event that includes a gravel section?

It would depend on what bike you have. A fixed front and back fork could mean a number of things.

Is it a road bike (for racing), in which case it will never handle an MTB event, but might handle a short section of off road (or gravel).

Is it a gravel or cyclocross bike, in which case, depending on the route, it could also probably handle an MTB event or a short gravel section.

Is it an MTB with a fixed fork. It will also handle both.

Is it a supermarket hardtail, in which case it won't handle an MTB event.
