Caution: roadworks on Jonkershoek road

Just a headsup if you're planning to ride up the road into Jonkershoek: major roadworks are in progress with stop-go in place from bottom of Lanzerac hill (the end of Stellenbosch town) to just before Oude Nectar.

One lane closed, and being chewed up by roadwork machines.

Looks like they will be busy for a couple of weeks (I don't know official duration).

 

Should not affect MTB riders too much, particularly as the shoulders have been graded.

 

But take care if you're planning a road bike ride into the valley. The single open lane is too narrow for bikes and cars to mix. The closed-off lane is presently rideable in sections but has patches where the asphalt has been stripped and this activity looks like its progressively moving along the road.

Maybe consider a different route for your Sunday morning road-bike ride.
