Gaborone to Sandton by bike

Has anyone cycled from Gaborone to Sandton/Johannesburg, or the other way around, and could you recommend a route? Looking to cover the distance over 4 days, on road bikes.

Which border gate will you be using?

I would say Kopfontein on the R49 to Zeerust.

Then R505 to ottoshoop and on to lichtenburg then R52 to koster

R509 to Magaliesburg then on to the Cradle side, from where Access to sandton has numerous options.

 

Keep in mind these roads have heavy vehicles, taxis and does not necessarily have a shoulder. I have traveled this area by motorcycle, and the tar roads are often worse than the dirt counterparts. None the less, there is some beautiful scenery, and is 10 times better than the N4 could ever be.
