I have always drilled a hole in my bottom brackets on all my bikes and have never had any problems.

Just make sure that the hole in the BB is not going to be closed up by the plasitic cable guide when you put it back on after drilling the  BB, because that will defeat the whole object.

Rather drill through the guide or next to it depending on ther shape of the guide. Just make sure you dont drill through the threaded area where the cups screw in otherwise you will mess the thread up and it will be closed by the cups when you replace the BB.

How did you manage to do this. I took my cordless drill to do a test and for the life of me could not work out how to get the drill bit to go straight.... the chuck and body of the drill hit the frame and makes the drill it go in at an angle?

Thanks in advance for a handy hint...Wink

Thanks Johan, appreciate that. When I can spend money on anything other than getting parts for my rebuild, I would certainly join your classWink
