I want to ship a bicycle from the USA and would like to know how I should ship, at what cost and with which service. Any help would be appreciated!

You'd need to use UPS' date=' USPS only do standard size stuff and EPO.

Shocked are you making some sort of suggestion that it's not about the bike?

A Sidi shoe box is standard size but Rasmussen never rode for Postal so he had to get a friend to do the shipping.

Theres been lots of posts on this.

Dont even try and negotiate with a US based shipper, if you are not in a hurry, go to one of the bigger local bulk forwarders like UTI, EAGLE FREIGHT, BARLOWORLD LOGISTICS, PANALPINA or similar, explain your situation and let them quote you for - Collection from the usa agent, clearance of USA customs, air freight or sea freight, clearance through SA customs and tell them you will collect at their depot - this cuts out the delivery charge locally.

Have the following info handy -

The foreign suppliers zip code

The weight and dimensions of the package

The contents description

The method of freight you prefer (air is quick but expensive / sea is slow but cheap)

Insurance requirements

If you are in a hurry go to DHL , FEDEX or a similar air freight shipper and ask for a quote, these shippers are very quick usually in 4 days its at your door, but also correspondingly more expensive.

You will need the same info as above.

It sounds like a hassle, but its dead easy if you let these fellas do the work, dont try and to do it all yourself to save money, its just not worth the inconvenience.

DHL isn't very well established in the US. I remember when I worked there you had a FedEx around every corner but the only place I saw DHL was at JFK, I think they sub-contract most of their deliveries to FedEx or UPS.
