These are not the EXP hubs, but rather beefed up 24T old style ratchet.

Yup, these were designed for the new generation of high torque e-bikes.

The standard star-ratchet freehubs don't have issues with regards to durability, and the 4-pawl, 40T ratchet of Hope hubs is just as robust, if not more so.
