Sorry' date=' what I meant was, the aluminium nipples that came with the wheels were replaced with another alloy that I do not know the exact chemical compound of (but not aluminium) - So that is what the rebuild achived - getting rid of the Standard Aluminium Nipples

So we agree, aluminium nipples as are standard on the American Classic wheels - are poop.

Just pulling your leg. So many people (especially Americans) use the word alloy when they mean aluminium. It's probably because they're ashamed of the way they pronounce aluminium.

However, I bet your nipples are aluminium. The AC wheels use a proprietary nipple that requires a spoke that's 3mm longer than what's calculated using the normal formula. This renders nipples from any other manufacturer useless for use on AC wheels. Although I hate proprietary stuff, this design makes sense. Unfortunately the useful part of the design doesn't call for non-standard lengths so I can't say why they went this route other than to lock us into their expensive nipples.

. R-sys spokes use hollow cylindrical carbon spokes.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Like I say, I can't pronounce those names. Is this like the plural of arse?

This is one of Mavic's most outrageous marketing scams ever. They bullsh*t the world that these spokes work in compression rather than tension. But that's another story.

Not sure about the spokes, but the ones on my wheels are definately DT Swiss spokes.

Front: Revolution [28 spokes - Radial]

Rear: Revolution and Competition (drive side) [32 spokes - triple laced]

Richard from CWC built them and he said the nipples were definately not Aluminium. I should actually find out what they, cos there is no "spoke freeze" or bonding now, and the wheels are perfectly true.

Then the nipples are brass. The trueness has nothing to do with the type of spoke.

3-1 I bet you his nipples are not aluminium...

Way back in 19voertsek when I was in standard 4, we had a weekly Library Studies class in the school library.

I remember the matronly librarian quite well, a Mrs Momberg.

She taught us how to use a library, how to care for books, how to search for titles and...oh dear, that world title. Us 11 olds already knew how to fractionante and managed to find the word "tit" in title. Each time she "titled" we giggled.

Until one day she blew a gasket and gave us a lecture on maturity. Many of my psychological problems came from that moment, at 11 I suddenly had to act maturely and perhaps that has something to do with being perpetually repressed.

Anyway, there is a point in this. Lets display some maturity on The Hub. Legitimate bicycle words like nipples, balls and even the odd reference to genitals (in a saddle sense of the word) shouldn't draw giggles, innuendo, and those silly nudge-nudge, wink-wink posts that do nothing but waste electrons.

Banter like this belongs to standard 4 library classes and spoils posts which are sexually innocent.

As a side business, I sell female urinating funnels and believe me, I hear silly jokes about genitals every day of my life. Stop it.
