check that your derailer is not bent or your dropuot is not bent and then lube cables and check on ferrules if the cable has put undue pressure on them if they have then replace cables and ferrules and trim ends of housing

Check if it shifts without a cable connected to a derailer.  If it still doesn't shift something may be broken inside the shifter.  In which case it may be a warranty or expensive failure depending on what shimano say...

 

Otherwise cables is the first place to start looking at if you have shifting problems.

in the eastern cape then you can expect a delivery maybe on monday if you lucky but see if your lbs can help you out with a shifter for the race

those 06/07 shifters had problems.  its a standard warranty.

remember epic last year shimano ran out of spare shifters and we were left repairing the broken ones for the remainder of the epic...

 

jst one of those new release glitches.
