So here's my story.  I had a Shimano Flightdeck that I wasn't using anymore so I gave it to one of my cycling buddies.  I got it installed on her bike OK but for the life of me I can't remember how to start it?

The buttons on the handlebars are working - I can scroll through the functions but I can't figure out how, when she wants to ride, to start the thing to record her distance etc etc  So now my friend has a really neat gadget that tells her nothing Confused

Anyone got one of these gadgets? Oh and know how to start it?

If it's the cordless one you need to switch it on everytime with the little grey buttons on the back. No need to take it off, you can reach it while it's still on the bracket. The wired on should always be on. Oh by the way, is the magnet attached to the wheel and is it in line with the censor. I know, but it does happen.?

Its the cordless one.  It does show speed while the wheel is turning but the time and distance isn't running (ie the stopwatch just shows 00:00)  So how to get the stopwatch running (and then I assume the distance will start recording too)?

Alida,

Mampara is correct in that you switch it on with the two buttons on the back.

To record your ride you need to start the computer by using the buttons on your sti levers, either left or right

As this unit measures cadence etc you also need to program the various sizes of the cassette that you are using, 12-25 cassette with a 39 - 53 front chain ring.

I have a manual for this computer as we use it on our tandem.

Got it setup ok with the cassette and chainring.  Will check it out over the weekend and see if we can get it started.

Okay, to start a session you do not need to be on the stopwatch. I'm normally on the distance and then change to cafdence when race starts. Anyway, when you have selected either distance, max speed, ave speed with your right hand button (if you can not find these you are in the wrong "set" and need to hold in the right hand button a few seconds). You can then start your session with the left hand button. To reset you hold in both left and right at teh same time.
