Your shifters is a must.Solomons Tiagra shifters R899, you can get away without changing your deraileur but your chain will be replaced R250 and the wheels must be 10 speed compatable or there goes another R300.These are more or less on prices but these must be changes at least.I haven't touched the crank yet.BUMP

I changed mine from 8speed to 9speed.Parts that was replaced casette, 105 chain and shifters. I also changed my crank to 105 and had to order a new BB to make my bike compact( 2 chain rings in front this was optional).My wheels was 9 speed compatable.Change your chainring from a 42 to a 38.That makes a big difference on the hills.BUMP

Try and keep your shifters and casette the same make like Shimano or SRAM.You could have problems shifting between the gears because the travel on the different make of shifters differs.Smile

Hey.

Thanks for the advice, Ill doule check my smaller chainring. It just felt like I was looking for a gear in between gears while climbing a long hill on Saturday.
