What a horrible thing to wake up to' date=' turtlek!  At least the bastards didn't get away with anything but it really could've ended up much worse for you.

ain't it sad that we have to take comfort from the words "could've been worse"? chin up, turtlek!
Very sad indeed.

Turtlek, sorry to hear about the invasion of your privacy and security.  It is very unnerving.  Good luck with getting things back to normal.

It is an accepted preception that when there is building activity in a region the crime rate increases.? After I had extended my house I was broken into three times in three weeks.? (Excluding the time when I bust the builders stealing my camera's ext on site).? Yes, then then got the cutest littel doggy ever (Authur), who sleeps at my bed room door at nights.? BUt it takes months for dogs to grow into the role of protector, and usually they will only protect you, and not your possessions.

?

The east rand has always been a tuff place.? (Grew up there myself).

?

I hope you recover you goods.? Ask HR to ping the bike shops and second hand shops to keep an eye for your bike.? THe nearest cash converters should have it by now.

?

Good luck.

kona thank goodness i woke up before they wedged my bike out of the security gate so they didnt take it they got away with nothing because i am a very light sleeper so as soon as the alarm went off i was awake

and yes it is a common misconception about the builders but in this case we know it is some of them because two of them were caught breaking into my next door neighbours house last week so now that all the builderswere fired from the company running the building the guys are obviously back for revenge

i know the east is very rough and i have stayed in my house my whole life unfortunately my dad is now missing out on valuable work time now trying to sort things out with insurance company and all the other stuff

thanks for your support guys really appreciated

well all i can say is three months ago when my garage was broken into thank goodness my bikes were not there because my dad's bikes and my sisters bikes were all stolen i have just recently completed my dad's new bike and my sister bought herself a bike but the other sister doesnt want anything to do with bikes so now all the important (over 3grand) bikes stay hung up in my room and i was just so glad they didnt try to get into my room because my room is right next to where they broke in unfortunately with my bike being ready for my morning ride this morning it was not hanging up and they obviously saw this while lurking around last night

Turtlek I'm glad you are ok and things didn't get worse than they did.

It reminds me of when I still worked in Moz. I was staying in a wendyhouse in a camping site that was erected for tourists and campers.

One night I work up and heard a tearing noise. When I went to investigate one of the locals was tearing the mosquito net on the window in the bathroom and was trying to get in. Luckily my shouting and swearing scared him off, but I was not able to go back to sleep for fear of them returning. All I could do was sit around the corner armed with a tin of doom and a lighter and hope the f*cker didn't come back...but yes, it is a heart-stopping experience to be confronted in the middle of the night by an intruder, because you never know how dangerous they are.

BAAAD !

It is not only in the OOS Rand that this happens.... I'm in the North and got burgled 3 times in November last year - had all my 3 bikes 'removed' 2 days before the 94.7 Angry

Be extra careful everyone, also when riding !
