They must have had a bolt cutter.  They cut the padlock and sliced the strapping. Quick.  It was less the 20 minutesfrom when I parked to returning to the car.

20 minutes = quick Confused

For Cape Town anything under a week is fastLOL

I have (maybe stupidly' date=' maybe not) never had any of my bikes insured. I have just bought one with around 30K replacement value, what could I expect to pay to have it insured? Would it be best to specify it under household insurance or do it via a company that specialises in bike insurance? Any advice would be welcome.

Give Outsurance a call, I (for the first time ever as well) had my newly upgraded XTC2 covered by them this morning. For R15k bike value comprehensive cover (meaning theft and damage, even while racing) my monthly premium is R140, with a R250 flat excess.

Cyclesure quoted me a R110 premium, but with a 15% excess in case of theft... That's R2250, which just didn't make sense to me considering the value of the bike.

I am weary of insurance, it seems as if they ALWAYS have some or another reason not to pay. I wonder if R300 a month, ie R3600 a year over the lifespan of a bike, say 3 years, wouldn't make a nice lump sum towards replacing it down the line rather...
