sorelegs Posted October 30, 2008 Share I am currently looking at replacing my current budget Wheeler Route 41 with something a bit more advanced. The 2009 Silverback carbon bikes looks for me to be really good value. Does anyone have a bit more of an experienced view on the Silverback carbon frames? The Monterey start of at about R14k for Tiagra and then move to R17k for 105 and R21k for Ultegra. Any recommendations on the quality and performance of these? Eugene Posted October 30, 2008 Share Very good bikes and very good value for money. The prices that you have quoted must surely be on the 2009 range, which, to my knowledge, are not yet in the shops. I'm sure you will pick up 2008 versions at much cheaper prices. I've seen the Ultegra version selling at two different shops at R17 500.00. I was told by one of the managers at Silverback that the 2009 road range will only get to the shops in Jan/Feb 09. They are only going to start assembly towards the end of this year.
