just simulate race day!

once a week go down to a circuit and do one less lap that you would on race day and push yourself. get a buddy to make it more interesting. Its hard, but it's a really good way to get faster...

I've been doing a lap route in local plantation at least 3 times a week, route have about 300m accend of uphills in 14km. And twice a week spinning and circuit traing for strength at local gym.

Busy assembling a carbon hardtail with XTR components hope that will add to my training and give the edge i need. Lukily uphills and single track is my strong point.

Any off u have the Gauteng XC calender for 2009

If you can afford one, get a power meter and focus on training intervals in specific power zones. I've found it to be really helpful.

I think the most useful training for XC racing is do try do lots of 5 and 10 min intervals within a 1.5 to 2 hour session.
