Happy New Decade to all you crazy ASGR teamsters. Good to see you again.

On boxing day, I got out of bed early to go ride and was not really feeling up to it. Just so happened that while I was making up my mind, the weather intervened and made it up for me. It really did chuck down. Managed a late ride the following day and then instead of riding again on the Monday, I spent the day building up my new "baby". What a stunning bike. Feels rally comfortable to ride so yeah, GO (virgin 2 point oh) it feels as comfortable as it looks. I thought the blue bar tape would just give it a nice finished look. Matches the blue on the bike perfectly.

Hope y'all had a relaxing holiday and have set all your goals for 2010. Damn, it finally arrived, 2010, the year we have all been hyped up on for so long now. The year of the soccer hooglians and vuvuzelas. Personally I'd rather eat my bike than have anything to do with soccer, but that's just me. I guess I should be happy for those who love the game.

Not sure yet what my targets are going to be and my New years resolution this year is not to make any more new years resolutions. See. it's been broken already.

We'll take each day as it comes as long as it involves bikes and cycling, all is cool.

In two minds about the SBR ride being planned for 9th so how about a nice long ride to the berg? We haven't done that one for a while now. I managed a ride to Hberg the other day en route to St. Anderton. Mrs. R went and left home earlier than she should have so I had to cut my ride short.

What is it with people? Women don't /  can't / won't listen, men don't /can't / wont ask for directions. Eish. Anyway despite this mishap, I still managed to do my 1000 km for the month.

Had a lekker ride around the SBR to Heidelberg, forced rest and then a cool ride around a loop somewhere in Mpumalanga. Seems those gentle rolling hills can hurt a bit.

Welcome to Hummingbird and other newfaces around here. Glad to hear that the accident yesterday didn't have too many lasting injuries. Seems that the damage was more to egos and bikes. "School fees" they tell me.

I have 4 hours to kill this week and 3 hours next week before Atta.

This is a toughie so looking forward.

Good to see you all getting back into the swing of things.

Well done on the 1K slave and of course the ride.

See all you nutters soon

Good riding in the Atta P. Remember to lock your bike away so it is still with you on race day. Would hate to see a repeat of Trubie's experience.

GO, that sounds like a brilliant idea. 1 problem though since it hasn't stopped raining for quiet some time i'm still going to end up all muddy! Not my favourite. smiley21.gif

Thanks Slave for my ride back home yesterday, definetly damage to ego, but better at 15 km/h on a bicycle than at 50km/h on motorbike. Reminds me i don't control everything.

Slave come ride SBR on the 9th it will make you well prepared for the one hill (I've heard about) in the fast one, you'll be able to fly past everyone on the way up!!

Predictor enjoy the Atta, just watch those Totsies!

Andy you love SBR, your only allowed down in the south every so often, need passport remember! Make your choice wisely!

She is next to me wife 1/2 meter from the bed. I am not lying smiley4.gif Doing some riding on the trails in the bush in the AM. Will keep you all updated. Today 21 degrees and I recon we will be seeing some HOT wheather by the time the ATTA arrives.

Glad to hear that Predictor! Sounds like you having fun down there! When exactly is the ATTA?

Hum - I do love SBR, but this weekend doesn't quite fit in with my training schedule. I need to do a fast, flat ride like Slave is doing. Hence why I have decided to ride with Slave. Beside, Fast One has one hill, SBR has 6.

Andy, so what the problem? You can do all the hill training for the Fast One in one day and get it over and done with!

Er Andy, Fast one has a bit more than one hill. Fortunately, they are nothing like the long steep climbs of the reserve. The three notable climbs on the fast one are the climb up the end of Klipriver road past Meyersig, a long gentle climb up past the SBR western entrance (ending in a steeper gradient with a short down then hard up, before a gentle pull up towards Henley. On all the rides I have done on that route, I have only once had the wind from behind. On race day last year, the wind was from the fron towards Henley.

GO has other commitments so he wont be going along. Trubie will prbably join us on his hybrid so maybe I have a chance to keep up with him.

I think I am getting withdrawal symptoms, from not being able to cycle during the week. The trojan indoor bike just isn't the same........

How's the weather the last two weeks?

GO I have missed out on your training ride last week after the Taxi almost took out Grant and Michael I turned right around and did the normal loop, and not that Lenasia route, last time that I will go with the group if they are going to do that dangerous loop.........smiley35.gif

Yes, the Fast One does have more than one hill if you look at it in detail with a microscope. But in general terms for this discussion it is essentially flat compared to SBR.

Pity GO can't join us. Would be great for Trubie to join. Kid, where you riding?

Posted

Kids doing base training. Riding n the blue zone and not sure he has the legs for the distance.

ANYTHING is flat compared to SBR. Oh wait, there are one or two exceptions to that "Flat rule" Mt Killimanjaro and Mt Everest.

Kid going to SBR, i'm almost sure. Mentioned a few times to me.

Slave you'll be more than prepared for those 3 hills in the fast one if you join us, you'll even have some fast downhill practice and the wind in SBR is always blowing from the front no matter n which direction you going.

You want to do a long ride? DO the loop twice you have just short of 120km smiley1.gif
