  1. What a great race that was! Organisation was fantastic! Didn't see the crash in A bunch since I was with 5 guys up the road. It did get a bit chaotic after the main bunch caught us with some Vets in the mix. But still a great race!
  2. Andrew, just make sure that you get to Barry Roux first! Or The Hub, make sure you also get to Barry Roux first.
  3. It is unfortunate that you train for 9 months plus for IM only to have a puncture or mechanical to end your race. Very unfortunate. But that is how the sport works. It is very harsh but c'est la vie. Riders train for a year for the Tour de France and have a crash or mechanical and lose the race. It happens. They just have to try again the next year. Look at Boonen crashing at the Ronde van Vlaanderen last year. Put him out of the race and he missed Paris-Roubaix. It just happens. Sometimes luck favours you and sometimes it doesn't. Harsh and unfair? Probably. But ultimately it is all part of the sport and one just has to accept that and try do what one can to minimise the risk of crashes and mechanicals.
  4. They do a pretty good job.
  5. Ummmm, speed skating is done on flat ice in a rink. No downhills there.
  6. And if you wore blue I suppose they would bliksem each other to decide who gives you a lift!
  7. It is a nice route although the bit through Ghandi Square is not my favourite. I enjoyed the inner city bit they had a few years ago when we got off the M2 and then had a few left-right turns and came out at the same intersection as now just before Mandela Bridge but from the right instead of having to turn left like now (passed SAB???)
  8. No! It must start down Homestead and finish on Bram Fischer. Mostly downhill for me to get home afterwards then.
  9. So you decided you not racing it next year just because you have to queue to collect your number on the busiest day of registration, which they did warn you about? Cutting off your nose to spite your face? I agree with you Ferret69! They did warn us that Thursday is the busiest day. I always try collect mine at a non busy time and also allow a lot of time to go collect and browse the expo.
  10. Is it ok to start a topic like this on a day other than a Friday?
  11. I hear you but I still can't imagine the the force of the pull will be outside the frame tolerances and cause failures on the frame? Unless of course your name starts with "Chuck" and ends with "Norris". Surely the force difference will be small enough to be still covered by the frame limits whether it be a SS or geared frame?
  12. I am not an engineer but surely the increased forces when you pull on the handlebars on a SS compared to pulling on the handlebars on a geared bike would not be so different as to cause frame failure?
  13. Looks painful. Probably just a touch of wheels.
  14. Looks awesome! Just reading the title made me jealous. Seeing the lovely pics made me even more jealous!! Glad you had a great weekend.
  15. Is Jessie perhaps one of the dog walkers? Anytime I see "dog" and "bike" together I think of these crashes:
  16. No good! Hope your brother recovers quickly!! Be careful people, wherever you are!
  17. Maybe also try a proper bike set up. You will get back pain from a bad set up on a FS just as much as a HT. Also remember that FS is heavier than HT.
  18. I thought it was a great ride for my first Trailseeker marathon. I really enjoyed it. Rode everything except part of that very rocky section near the end. Tried to ride as much of it as possible but then people around me were walking so had to get off and walk as well. 3:09 from F so happy with that. With my Edge 500 I got 739m ascent.
  19. Not really. At least nothing needed for registration.
  20. Or that big oke with tattoos who like to sneak up behind and then bliksem people on the Spruit. Nice work to all the fairies! Thanks a lot!
  21. Cool. What kit bike you going to have? Maybe meet up and say hi. I will be in black and red Cycle Nation kit on a red/white/black Specialized Carve.
  22. Usually the races are roughly the same dates every year so you can work on this year's dates as a rough guide for next year.
