As with all riders there is a steep learning curve.

I would like to admit my idiocy and say that I was fortunate enough this Saturday to have one of "THOSE" lessons on the bike.

The lesson in question is: Always make sure you have spares and tools when riding.

I have yet to have a puncture on a ride so thought precious little of such items as spare tubes, pump, tool kit etc..

Anyway, to cut a short story long, a friend and I went to Northern's on Saturday morning for a short ride. about 3 km in, Andrew had a monster blow out. There was a spare in his saddle bag but it was so old that the folded edges had perished. We were stuck and deciced to walk the 3km back.

During our short walk (about 300m) at least 20 riders stopped to offer help. Not 2 minutes later a kind dude by the name of Mark (opel corsa bakkie with a NP plate) stopped and gave us his puncture repair kit, pump and tyre levers. This was awesome... Thanks Mark. (hope you got them back) and a few minutes after that another dude stopped and offered us a spare tube. this did not fit but the thought was there.

About 2 minutes after that a pair of awesome ladies stopped that happened to have a tube that fit. I did not get your names but thank you very much indeed. I would be more than happy to meet up and pay for the tube if you read this.

The overall willingness to help by almost all riders on Saturday was fantastic and just reinforced why I love the riders and the sport so much.

MTB riders rule....
