Hi Johan thanks!

So I'm ordering soon on CRC and I see that they only have 258mm in stock do I order them and can they be cut? or must I search for other spoke lengths?

As they say "Elke vlieg op sy eie drawl". JB just cured me. I would imagine that tension as in 'tightness" and in evenness would be more critical with the lighter (revo) spoke?

It is not unusual for suppliers to only stock even numbers.

Assuming you don't have to buy full boxes but can purchase loose spokes you then do the following:

You then buy 258mm for the Front Left, and Rear Left.

And 256mm for front right and rear right.

Not sure what I cured you of but, tension in magnitude and uniformity is no more critical with Revos than with any other spoke. It is just more difficult to get a Revo spoke up to proper tension. They twist too easily.

And as a gourmet purveyor of all fine things filthy and evil, I cant resist correcting your "drawl". It should read "drol"

Drol = turd.

Just my luck! they only stock 258mm and larger so where else can I get spokes

I know that' date=' just avoiding the obvious use of vulgarity is all and all[/quote']

In that case, just call a spade a spade. We all know a sp*de is still a spade.

Vulgarity has its own beauty, if the purveyor is bold.

I just wasn't brought up to use rude words like poow and bhum, or drawl and ghut. I also happen to think that the use of vulgarity on public forums may be offensive to some, it may be against the rules and it's not nice, see. But I do sometimes swear, ok quite a lot, I won't lie.

R310.00 for 36 black spokes + brass nipples

That's a bit cheaper than locally available, but after all the hassle, just buy them locally. We're not talking hundreds of rands here.

As for the problem above with spokes only 2mm longer than what you need. I can shorten them for you and add some thread.

On Revolutions you don't have much "butt" so 2mm is about the most you can take off.

Standard procedure.

So johan how much will you ask me for 64 black revo spokes in the right sizes?

It seems as of neither money nor beer can buy a 257mm bloack Revo spoke in this town. No-one has. No-one will import.

I can get ones 5mm longer, but then we have to cut them and thread them - all 64 of them. It's a PITA. Also, Revo's dont' have much "butt" so 5mm may be too much.

Phone me tomorrow, after I've looked over my stock and contemplated thge issue, and let me see what I can do for you.  0823086847

what other spoke can I use that are also as light as they are.

You could try and find a source for Sapim Laser. They're the Sapim equivalent of Revo's.

However, the local importer only brings in some lenghts in the 290mm range, nothing for mountain bikes.

I actually think you are going to do better looking for bladed spokes. But keep searching. It is the story of my life.
