I'm just going to mini hijack this thread and by no means mean any disrespect to Colin' date=' but I saw something yesterday coming down The Glen in Camps Bay that left me ice cold....

Three riders, (and I can identity their kit if I have to) were playing "chicken" with the traffic going down there....zig zagging over the road from one side to the other....right in front of a loaded on-coming tourist bus.....not to mention the bus coming from behind narrowly missing the one oke.....I'm still numb by that stupidity from cyclists....adult male cyclists....

tell us what kit it was...

Please do - name & shame!

I believe one of Colin's passions was safety. How ironic he should

be killed in this manner...

RIP Colin, and condolences to his wife and daughter.

As a number of people have already stated, we need to do what we can to keep ourselves safe. (Captain S, I thought your thread was a good one) The problem we all face is that most road users are oblivious of cyclists, or just don't care. I'm not sure what can be done in this regard, but the dumb-asses that Poison Ivy spotted do NOTHING to help our cause.

..i think we should all start by making a decision to from now on, stop at every red Traffic Light..

..we can only try to start earning respect from motorists..

My condolences to Colin's family.  CryCry

I have a young son and have made it quite clear that Road Cycling is OUT! Purely due to the amount of traffic users / drivers who cannot judge distance and be able to pass cyclist leaving a safe distance.

Mountain Biking is definitely safer as the motor car option is not there.  One can also get hurt Mtn Biking but it is the safer option.

Cape Town needs a dedicated cycling park!!!

you are 100% right....you earn respect....you don't just get respect

I was just curious yesterday....what would the people in the tourist busses thought about the manoevers of those 3 guys.....surely they couldn't think for one second: hey, well done guys.....great job....the bus missed you....excellent Angry
