Race Ethics Lacking in "Developement Cyclist"

My very own highly respected super qualified medic is shouting "Burnshield" from the room next door. She says its expensive but well worth it and wont "stick" to the wounds when the dressing gets changed. Chemist should have it in stock.

PM me if she can help, good luck and sorry about the accident.Unhappy

is "developement cyclist" (sic) a euphemism?

?

No' date=' not a euphamism! I said developement rider, and that's what I meant.
[/quote'] then explain the quotation marks in the subject line?

?

'developement' riders being youngsters that are relatively new to the sport. Assisted/sponsored up-and-coming cyclists. In a state of sporting advancement!??They are identifiable as developement cyclists by their kit. Don't split hairs Holy. Stick to the point. These guys cause weekly accidents. Bad ones. More so than usual. They do not take any cognizance of their fellow riders, nor their own, safety.

I believe that if a sponsor is going to put their company's name and logo all over a cyclist, they should also put some effort into ensuring said cyclist is not a menace in a race. Be it with training or in any other relevant manner.

c'mon, don't be coy, just say "young darkie kid". holy roller2009-02-22 00:14:49

Pickles, the only thing to use is clear seal dressing. I think everyone has covered this but speak from own experience they work. I had 10cm roasty on arse and after using these healed in 7 days and left zero scarring. need to scrub wounds before applying. I will SMS you exact name of product.

Pickles, i agree with you 100% over this issue. I was nearly taken out by 4 dev riders on my way to my start group at yesterdays race. For f@%k$ sake, the race hadn'd even started yet, and they already acting like idiots.  It's almost as if these guys have a right to not be respossible for their actions when riding at events, because of who they are. WTF, they are just down right bad mannered, I don't care what colour, religion or creed they are. The sponsers need to seriously pull them aside a teach them some manners before bringing them to public events. Never mind teach them some riding etiquette.

Why not contact Acsis Cycling club directly?

You capies sound a tad racists there! From this posting on the hub and the ones before this one' date=' can I safely assume no other crashes ever occur in CT besides the ones caused by 'development' riders? Jeez in Gauteng there are crashes every week in our races, so would it be correct to say that the whiteys in Gautend ride their bikes like blacks or that the whiteys in CT are just exceptionally gifted riders that it is just not possible for them to cause any crashes?

Skye, I sincerely hope Glyn tells you exactly where to shove your complaint!
[/quote']

No, YOU cannot safely assume anything other than that your unqualified observations are way 'out of turn' in this particular case. If you raced here, you would see for yourself what these guys get up to. It is NOT a racist issue! Get off the tired, boring, hackneyed "racist bandwagon'! Racism has got bugger-all to do with anything here. These are a clearly IDENTIFIABLE group of people who create MORE than their fair share of havoc...and should be diciplined by their club!

Please post something a bit more creative and constructive if you feel the itch to add anything at all . Are you bored? Stop trying to stir up unnecessary nonsense!

That will not help. At the Paarl league event 3 of the Acsis guys held on to their team verchile for the first 15 km. When we reported them at the end, their manager said, they started late and had to get to the bunch somehow....

I hear your pain Pickels, the one rider EL19 tried to switch me as well, but he failed, and when the one guy in the bunch tried to talk to him his commen was; " Jou ma se .....".AngryAngryAngry

Did you report them to the race organisers or to the team management?

If race organisation does not take action, then escalate to CSA / province.

If the trickle of complaints turn into a stream, then they will HAVE to act!

But referring to the group as 'development riders' does not help to expose them either. Name & shame. Bring the sponsor into the naming part of it... Contact the sponsor directly!

Take action, and only then action will be taken!

I'm told that some new shifters are needed. Otherwise Mat took the knock. And the helmet split up the back! Thank God it wasn't his head! I think some insurance is going to be needed when the new bike comes into play!

You got a few options with treatment:

1) Opsite (clear film dressing) replace evry 3 days. Clean wounds with normal saline, this won't destroy new tissue that has formed

2) The spray - Opsite spray - forms also a clear dressing over the wounds. Just note, this burns as hell the 1st time. Peel of every 2- 3 days and replace

Do not use betadine too long as this may destroy all newly formed tissue.

Stay away from Merthyolide or mercuruchrome - as soon as this dries out the skins pulls and it gets painfull.

If there is a spot or 2 thet gets infected get asap antibiotic powder (can't get to the name right now ) and pour over this area and keep open.

Good luck with the heeling!!!!

I don't know about Beth, but in our incident, it was too quick to take note of the riders league number, but he was an ACSIS cyclist. I believe our club will take it up with Acsis and WP Cycling. I've had enough PM's to assure me that the dangerous riding these guys display is no figment of my imagination! Whether anything comes of it remains to be seen, but at least their managers or sponsors or whoever is "in charge", will be made (officially) aware of what is taking place.
