I've seen bike racks on 4x4's (with rear mounted spare wheel) that fit onto the towbar and have a goose-neck shape (to extend beyond the spare wheel).

Which is the best brand?  Where can I buy one?

all the THULE ride on racks passes the spare wheel just fine..... otherwise try the Spare me from Thule..... it fit on the spare wheel......

I'm a bit sceptical about the racks that fit directly onto the spare wheel.  Don't they put a lot of strain on the spare wheel mounting points on the vehicle?

as long as the spare wheel is mounted on the rear door and not a swing arm then its fine...... the spare me have a fitting that bolts on behind the rim or mag and then the rack just clips onto the baseplate behind the tyre....... its very nice but i still prefer the ride on racks...... youre bikes dont touch each other at any stage...... so cant get damaged......

My spare wheel is on a swing arm, so I'll be staying away from the spare wheel mounted racks!

Thx Mampara, the Hanler products is exactly what I'm looking for....
