High Pressure Sprays

Def no HP washers. I used one on my bakkie and the pressure actually removed some of the factory fitted stickers on the paintwork. You can also ask William Keith at Williams Bike Shop what happens when someone accidentally HP's your leg...now imagine adding some grit and spraying that on your bearings. Suicidal.

My one brain surgeon mate decided it would be a good idea to use a high pressure parrafin gun. Don't even ask what his bearings ended up like. At least his cassette was nice and shiny....

My new bike has an XT crank which I am told' date=' and I can see, has the hollowtech technology. Basically it appears to be sealed on either end of the BB, by 2 cap like thing which are screwed onto either end ot the BB. Do you think this reduces the chance of getting dirt/grime etc into the BB/Crank area, or am I at the same risk level as a bike without?[/quote']

You must take you crankset apart, then all will be revealed as to how the External BB differs from internal. The fact that you have the Hollowtech, doesn't mean much, you still have an external BB. I was under the impression the Hollowtech extended to the crank arms being hollow (just a theory).

Go onto Shimano's website and download the fitting instructions for the XT crank, it may better explain how the BB fits together.
