See i have a lot of hard pack in my area where i ride, even with just about terential rainfall it still stays pretty hard. Dunno my kenda komodos are running a bit low on juice now so i was thinking of the larcens. It looks like a pretty nice tread pattern to me as well.

 

On the flipside my kendas kinda have the same tread "more or less" & it does clog a bit & become quite slippery on clayish surfaces. However i dont ride in such conditions 90% of the time so id rather go with what i ride with most of the time.

Rain is one thing. Mud another. Go for the dirty bits. Dont be scared.

Well if I can help.

 theres actually About 5 different tyre threads on the Tech Q & A side. read through them. TT's Are quite similar to crossmarks although I beleve they are a bit better(crossmarks)

In the south It never rains in summer' date=' And the soil is very corse/asphalt like so One dont need "wet " tires really, Even in winter as theres always grip on this surface. Anyway. ASk yourself how much wet stuff will you see. And If thats not much then ask yourself If you want to haul a slower rolling tire around 80% of the time to make the 20 % wet 10% faster.Big%20smile

Crossmarks shed marginally better. Great tyre if you are not expecting rain and mud. Lasts forever and very puncture resistant.

TT's worked well for me as training tyres... Especially because it feels like you're riding on a carpet at lowish pressure... so they make you strong and they last long... but they're terribly slow as a race tire... Lots of wind and rolling resistance... Fast race tires for me is Kenda Small Block 8, WTB Vulpine, Specialized Fast Trak dual compound, anthing which is semi slick like...  

A couple of years ago (not so long) TT's were under R250 for UST and R180 for foldable and were very good value for money considering how many KM's I got out of them...

I did a stans conversion using folding TT's, not tubeless, on tube rims and have been riding for a few months without any problems. Maybe I just don't ride fast enough but I really don't have problems with mud. I also think I'm still too slow to notice whether a tyre is a fast racing tyre or not. Maybe not the fastest, stickiest or fanciest but definitly worth the money you pay. So if you are not racing for top 10 placing I would say give it a try.
