Thanks for all the advice received, and also old topics on this site. It enabled me to strip my bike and re-built it after the SabieX last year. She is going like a dream now.

Total cost:

R300 - Zinn of bike maintenance book

R200 - bearings (I broke a couple before  figured out how to put them in)

R20 - cables

R200 - brake pads

you're gonna replace those R20 cables soon. You should have opted for the R30 ones.
