whats with these dumbass Imperial sizes anyway!!!??

HUH??

27.2,

31.8

31.6

30.9

FFS!!!

Just make the frikken thing 30mm and it's a std; Everyones Happy.

ShaneJvv I Do recall the original platform Mag21 forks and the Coda Magic Si Cranks that Cannondale bought from Magic Motorcycle (thats not all they bough though) which is now BB30.

those were all ideas that were just way ahead of their time.

In the 80's and 90's MTB was a sport roadies did in winter. Only once MTB shed the shackles of the shaven les brigade did it start to push the limits of bicycle technology.

However, there are certain interface std's that I feel should be adopted throughout the industry and this will have a positive benefit to customers.

BB30 is an Excellent idea. I'm sold on it and after 15yrs, so is the rest of the industry.

Front forks should all be 20mm thru axle, whether Maxle or QR20 or whatever. We really don;t need a crappy QR15 confusing things. LEfty is a 20mm thru stub axle, so it's compliant.

Rear axles should be thru 12. This will benefit XC bikes while still providing a strong and stiff interface for  DH bikes

Handle bar clamp diameter Should be 32mm. 31.8 se m*er. keep it metric, keep it simple.

Seat post should be 30mm. Seat tube wall thickness can be varied for different size bikes. (See above for further reasons)

Front derailleurs should all have a frame mounted hanger. Whats with theese frikken clamps? it's not a garden hose pipe, why should it look like one. Or at least produce one clamp size and shims to allow fitting to any bike. Shimano does this. It's a good thing.

Replacable Rear Derailleur hangers. Can we please frikken please have on std for this. So that it's freely available from ANY Shop,

I think that the PC / Electronics industry has it right.

Apparently its called an RTI or something like that, Refer To Trade. When they do have a new idea, they put it to the whole industry to get LOTS of informed opinions. That's why so much of the electronics world is PnP, Plug and Play.

Why does the cycle industry not do this? Or are the informed opinions not those of the people that count?

If they made everything plug and play then the cycling industry would shut down because thenwe wouldn't be able to brag to our mates about how much cooler my (for example) Specialized is over his (for example) Merida...because MINE has the latest goodiewhatsit...

Making everything fit in a fewer number of standard ways would not make the industry shut down. After all, you still have people make things that fit the same way, look different, use cooler or less cool tech to make and so forth.

Bad example but, grips all fit on the same diameter bars, some are rank and others are middle of the road while others yet are way cool.

As a singlespeeder onebynine, you must be aware of a miriad things that are singlespeed yet can fit almost every other singlespeed?

having std fitting dimension sfor certain parts would reduce of components within the industry. Also I do not think that these std fitting should be licenced, they should be free as Cannondale has doen with BB30.

Now of course those )(&&)*(& at Specalized ned to go and mak their dumb ass version called BB90 and so the disconnect in the cycling industry continues.

These innovation for improvement i.e. BB30 and then there innovation for marketing benefit i.e. BB90.

I tend to steer clear of companies who make bicycles parts that can only fit on their bicycle.

I have to admit that here Do have to praise Cannondale because y9ou can fit a Lefty to other bikes via the Project 321 steerer converter and BB30 is free for all to use.

And their bikes can fit conventional fork throug using a reducer heaset which they license through Woodman and now others.

This FOX/Shimano QR15 rear axle is a real f(*)in pain in the behind because now they are making not only existing free hubs and their wheels (sets) obsolete but also frames. There is change for change sake and I feel this is one of those.

Shimano's CentreLock brake rotor fitting is an excellent idea and it should be adopted across the board.

Threadless (A-headset) was a brilliant idea.

20mm thru axle was excellent

12mm thru axle was excellent

But QR15 is just non sense.
