Preventative maitainence is the answer here. Once a month loosen the seatpost bolt, rotatate seatpost back and forth, re-tighten. 1 minute 12 seconds well spent.

agree with Veloce, loosten post once a month.

I had some good advice from JB just before this years argus. 20cm of Carbon seatpost stuck in a alu frame.

The grease had emulsified and swelled = stuck post.

No twisting would budge it.

Took many kettle fulls of boiling water, poured over the end of the seat tube where the seat sat, one kettle at a time with a twist and pull between kettle pours. this allowed small increments of extraction 2-5mm, and finally after many hours the seat post came out.

Alum expanded with the hot water, thus allowing the post to twist out a bit till it cooled.

so far all good since.

thanks again JB.

After reading all the suggestions above, I first tried the boiling water option before considering the demolition option. 4 kettles later and the carbonpost came loose! Now, deciding whether to stay with the carbon post or fiting the alu one.

thanks for all the suggestions above, it saved me a seatpost!
