So like just how much is an aero helmet going to help?

 

This is the same as saving grams on water bottle cages. Negligable difference.

 

 

Slave, maybe if you get that aero helmet you can hold off upgrading from your 21 ? Wink

1. MIT is the #1 university in the world for engineering. I recon they would know what they are talking about.

 

2. Ivan Basso used them for tuning his position etc. Must have cost him a lot of money. Having one of the superstars of pro cycling pay you consulting fees gives you some cred.

 

3. The guys doing the testing actually race bikes, too. So not just theory, but I would guess that they also have a passion for what they do.

 

4. My own measurements on my benchmark 30km TT route seems to support what they say. I have done times on it with box rims, TT wheels, helmet/ no helmet, at more or less the same power.

On my route, TT helmet was 1min 31 sec faster over 30km, compared to std Giro Atmos. (same power, same position, same bike, same wheels etc)
