That's the weight on the 1st generation Quartz. LOOK modified the pedal with a slightly different body and stiffer spring' date=' pushing the weight up a few grams.  I have only had positive feedback on the new 2009 pedals.

Actual Weight 2009

Quartz - 140g

Quartz Carbon - 130g

Quartz Carbon Ti - 120g

As ridden by Conrad Stoltz, Kevin Evans, David George and Ralph NAF to name a few.

Ah, Mr Look sounds like the right name to answer questions about the Look'sSmile.

My LBS has a set of Look Quartz's in stock, I assume they are the Quartz at 140g. How can I verify these are the 2009 editions not a legacy set besides popping them on a scale?

Thanks,

Mr Look' date=' do you still have to buy the 20 degree cleats if you prefer them or do you have a choice between it and the 15 degree?[/quote']Mampara, all new 2009+ Quartz Carbons and Carbon Ti's come supplied with 2 sets of cleats. (15 &20deg) There was one batch of the Normal Quartz that came supplied with 2 sets as well.....so there's a lot of them floating around. In fact....all my current stock come supplied with 2 sets, but all my new shipments will only have one set. (not sure if it's the 15 or 20)

I'll do my best with the questions. Big%20smile

Have a look at the link above. The new pedals come with the spring....sort off wrapped around the axle. The box should also say 2009 on the white sticker.

Great, I will browse the site and then go and have a close up at my LBS. If all things check out I could possibly have Look pedals by tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for the help.

Did some browsing and found this:

XT pedals weght: 354.0g (I assume this is per pair)

Your Egg Beaters weight: 294g per pair.

That's 30g per pedal' date=' so I don't think it will make a noticeable difference.

Just for interest sake, I weighed my Egg Beaters this morning ~320g on kitchen scale. Not their claimed 294g.

Spent some quality time at my LBS comparing the XTR, XT and Look Quartz pedals. Even though I would feel safer in going with a design I know and know works for me, I have opted to give Look a chance. I won't truely know until I've tried them. Setup with 1mm spacer, fit snug, all that remains is the test ride tonight.

They had the 2009 sticker on them, plus came with the 15 and 20 degree float cleats and plenty spacers. Installation guide was to the point and easy to follow.
