AVID Elixir brakes

Ayone had problems with Avid Exir R brakes, i have a new anthem X1 and after a 40k ride in the wet(not very muddy just lots of rain) the inside pad on the rear brake wore down to metal the outer pad was about 2/3 of it's original thickness. The bike has done less than 100K.

Do these pads perform poorly in the wet, or is this a defective set or could there be a problem with the calipers? i had shimano XT brakes previously and  they never gave me any trouble wet or dry.

That's pretty quick wear. My Brother-in-Law has the Elixir R SL on his Specialized and was done with his brake pads in about a month.

I got Elixir CR brakes on my X1 and have done about 800km and they are getting to the point now where I should keep an eye on the remaining brake pads. Mine came with the sintered pads.

I don't know if the aftermarket or OEM pads are different or whether they are different from one model to another.

You might have not "burnt"/worn in the pads properly before your ride in the wet.

If the pads have not had that hardened outer layer burnt in then they wear out super fast in the wet.
