This Morning I was almost badly hit by a car in Kloof, Durban. This is the email I sent out to my club. Man I hate motorists.

The arrows point out the direction of movement.

I was ahead of the group as I did intervals. Nearing this intersection in the attached picture I was hit by an oncoming car, yip?. Oncoming! Yip, at that spot!

Apparently it was my fault as I did not yield! For Vark Steaks, I could have been going down this road at 80km/h and if this guy followed the traffic rules and wasn?t a lazy son of a, let me rephrase. If this guy was not trying to take shortcuts to get to his gym workout (which in my opinion is a waste of time, if he takes shortcuts in his car all he is probably doing at the gym is eating Lunch Bars) there is no way in Hell he would ever have hit me!

Lucky for me I came off lightly as after swerving away he only managed to buckle my back wheel a bit! I was frustrated too much (probably in shock) to get any details, all I know is it was a red Alpha the guy was driving.

So this asho? So this motorist gets away with it and gets to tell stories about how he thinks there should be no cyclists on the road! Damage for my wallet again!

My message for the morning is be very aware and careful of cars. There is no respect for cyclists by probably 80% of drivers out there.

I almost became another statistic.
